As we work towards delivering the State election on 27 November, we are proud to introduce our new website.
We've made major improvements to the design and navigation, making it easier for you to find the information you need and to stay informed. We have also revised every page and have included more ways for users to provide us with feedback.
We hope you find it both informative and useful and we welcome your feedback.
The new menu structure can be found on the left of the page and it is organised by the topics electors most readily need: enrolling, voting and standing for elections, as well as shortcuts to information about results, electorate details and information about the VEC itself.
In addition to the new menu structure, there is now a search field at the top of every page and instant links to the most frequently accessed services and information are available from tabs on the front page.
Improving the methods people can use to find information on the site is one step forward, improving the information itself is the other. Every page of content has been reviewed and rewritten to be as simple and clear as possible. The electoral process can be complicated but every effort has been made to make it as accessible as we can.
An updated glossary, site map and media centre can each be accessed from the bottom of every page along with accessibility information and in-language information for voters.
The new VEC website is designed to respond to the needs of users. Each page now has a 'rate this page' option, which you can use to let us know if the information on the page is of use or if we are not being clear enough. In addition to this, each area of interest has a section for commonly asked questions that links directly back to answers within the site. If your question isn't listed, a link on the page lets you email our web team and we will respond to your query directly.
All of the interactive functionality of our previous site has been retained, including the enrolment and candidate helpers and the tool to register your interest for electoral work.
The VEC website has changed to better reflect the needs of voters, candidates and all Victorians. As we have completely revised our menu structure and content, unfortunately many of our previous page addresses are no longer valid. If you have bookmarked any pages of interest in our old site, please take a moment to update your links to the equivalent information in the new site.
As the site is brand new, we have tried to ensure that everything works well and that all the information is accurate and up to date. However, all the information on the VEC web site is provided on the basis that anyone using it undertakes responsibility for assessing the relevance and accuracy of the content. If you find something that doesn't work, or can't find what you are looking for, or you discover a mistake, please contact us to let us know.
We hope that this site will be the most useful and complete source of electoral information available to Victorians and the more feedback we receive the better.
