Features of the District

Location:Ballarat West District is an urbanised rural electorate located north-west of Melbourne.
Area:135 square kilometres.
Region:Western Victoria Region
Suburbs:Alfredton, the northern and western sections of Ballarat, Delacombe, Nerrina, Sebastopol and Wendouree.
Features:Ballarat East District is largely comprised of the urban area of Ballarat, Victoria’s largest inland city and one of Australia’s principal goldmining centres in the nineteenth century. The outer reaches of the electorate are mainly agricultural. Natural features include Creswick State Forest, part of the Great Dividing Range, and Lake Wendouree.
