Banyule City is divided into seven wards. There is a total of seven councillors.
This structure came into effect at the November 2008 election as a result of an electoral representation review conducted in 2007. For more information about the review, visit the Banyule City Council representation review page.

In the north is Bakewell Ward which includes Greensborough and Yalambie. Beale Ward in the north-east includes St Helena and Briar Hill. Olympia Ward includes Bellfield and Heidelberg West. Ibbott Ward includes Macleod and Rosanna. Hawdon Ward includes Montmorency, Lower Plenty and Viewbank. Griffin Ward includes Heidelberg, Ivanhoe and Eaglemont.
