Baw Baw Shire is divided into four wards. There is a total of nine councillors.

Warragul Ward includes Warragul, and Drouin Ward includes Drouin. Mount Warth Ward is in the south of the Shire and includes Trafalgar. The Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is not included in the municipality.
