The VEC collects personal information from electors, other individuals and organisations in order to fulfil its functions under the Electoral Act 2002. The VEC acts in accordance with the privacy principles set out in the Information Privacy Act 2000 to protect all personal information it receives.

You can see the enrolment information about you that is public online using the check your enrolment feature, or at the VEC's head office. You can also ask to see all the personal information the VEC holds about you. Requests for access to personal information will generally be handled in accordance with the VEC's freedom of information procedures.
If you would like to update or correct your enrolment information, please print and complete an enrolment form. You can also pick up an enrolment form at any post office, or you can contact the VEC and we will send you one.
General requests for access to, and correction of your personal information should be directed to the VEC Freedom of Information Officer.

If you are dissatisfied with the VEC's response, you can contact the Victorian Privacy Commissioner. The Privacy Commissioner may seek to conciliate the matter or may suggest that it be referred to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal for a hearing.
