At the upcoming 2008 elections, Bass Coast Shire will elect seven councillors from seven wards.
As a result of an electoral representation review in 2008, some ward boundaries have changed since the last election. For more information about the review, visit the Bass Coast Shire Council representation review page.

Phillip Island largely consists of three wards: Thompson Ward includes Cowes, McHaffie Ward includes Ventnor and Rhyll, and Churchill Ward covers the east of the island excluding the small coastal tip. This section is in Anderson Ward, which also includes San Remo and Kilkunda. Leadbeater Ward includes The Gurdies, Grantville, Corinella and Coronet Bay. Hovell Ward includes Wonthaggi and Cape Paterson. Townsend Ward consists mainly of Inverloch.
