Statutory, commercial and community elections

In addition to conducting State and local council elections, the VEC provides expert, independent election services to commercial and community organisations. A range of legislation requires the VEC to conduct statutory elections and polls. This includes elections for the boards of management of community health centres, the Victorian Institute of Teaching, liquor licensing and agriculture polls. The VEC also conducts a small number of additional elections for existing customers.

Current elections

The Victorian Electoral Commission is conducting the following community elections:

Camberwell Liquor Licensing Poll (IL Borgo Cafe Restaurant)
Ballot papers mailed out: Friday, 28 August 2009
Voting closes: 6.00pm on Monday, 14 September 2009

Balwyn Liquor Licensing Poll (Stefan’s Charcoal Grill)
Ballot papers mailed out: Friday, 25 September 2009
Voting closes: 6.00pm on Monday, 12 October 2009

Voting in Liquor Licensing Polls is compulsory for all electors enrolled in the licensing poll neighborhood.
