Location:Gippsland East District is a rural electorate located north-east of Melbourne.
Area:27,551 square kilometres.
Region:Eastern Victoria Region
Towns:Bairnsdale, Bruthen, Cann River, Heyfield, Lakes Entrance, Maffra, Mallacoota, Marlo, Omeo, Orbost, Paynesville and Stratford.
Features:Industries in Gippsland East District include agriculture, timber production and tourism. The town of Bairnsdale is a centre for commerce and retail trade. Natural features include the famous Snowy River country.
