Yarra Ranges Shire COUNCIL ELECTORAL REPRESENTATION REVIEW: FINAL REPORT RELEASED

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Final Report on electoral representation for the Yarra Ranges Shire Council.

The VEC’s recommendation is that Yarra Ranges Shire Council consist of nine councillors to be elected from nine single-councillor wards. There has been one minor adjustment to the Ryrie/O’Shannassy Ward boundary. This recommendation is the same as the preliminary preferred option in the VEC’s Preliminary Report of 8 October 2007.

In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information, including submissions made in response to its Preliminary Report and statements made at a public hearing on 15 November 2007.

The VEC’s Final Report on the Yarra Ranges Shire Council has been forwarded for consideration to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government.

The Final Report is available for inspection at the Council offices, or personal copies are available from the VEC (tel. 13 18 32) or from the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au.
