For release from Monday, 8 October 2007
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Final Report on electoral representation for the Buloke Shire Council.
The VEC’s recommendation is that the Buloke Shire Council consist of seven councillors to be elected from one three-councillor ward and two two-councillor wards. The recommendation is the same as the VEC’s additional option presented in the Addendum Report released on 3 September 2007.
In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information, including submissions made in response to its Preliminary and Addendum Reports and statements made at a public hearing on 14 August 2007.
The VEC’s Final Report on the Buloke Shire Council has been forwarded for consideration to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government.
The Final Report is available for inspection at the Council offices, or people can get their own copies from the VEC (tel. 13 18 32) or from the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au
