For release from Monday, 17 December 2007
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Final Report on electoral representation for the Campaspe Shire Council.
The VEC’s recommendation is that Campaspe Shire Council consist of nine councillors, to be elected from two three-councillor wards and three single-councillor wards.
This recommended structure is a combination of wards from the VEC’s preliminary preferred option and preliminary second alternative option, as shown in the Preliminary Report of 18 October 2007.
In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information, including submissions made in response to its Preliminary Report and statements made at a public hearing on 29 November 2007.
The VEC’s Final Report on the Campaspe Shire Council has been forwarded for consideration to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government.
The Final Report is available for inspection at the Council offices, or people can get their own copies from the VEC (tel. 13 18 32) or from the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au
