The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Preliminary Report on electoral representation for the Moira Shire Council. The VEC’s preliminary preferred option is for the Moira Shire Council to consist of nine councillors, to be elected from three three-councillor wards, with boundaries different to those in the current structure. An alternative option is also included in the Preliminary Report.
The Report has been released and is available on the VEC’s web site at www.vec.vic.gov.au . The Report is also available at the Moira Shire Council offices, 44 Station Street, Cobram, and at the VEC office, Level 8, 505 Little Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000.
People have until 5.00 pm, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 to lodge submissions with the VEC regarding its Preliminary Report.
People who wish to speak publicly in support of their submissions will have an opportunity to do so at a public hearing at:

on Wednesday, 28 November 2007 at
6.00 pm.
The VEC’s Final Report and recommendations will be lodged with the Minister for Local Government on Monday, 17 December 2007.
