The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Final Report on electoral representation for the East Gippsland Shire Council.
The VEC’s recommendation is that East Gippsland Shire Council consist of nine councillors to be elected from an unsubdivided municipality. This recommendation was the third preliminary alternative option in the VEC’s Preliminary Report of 3 October 2007.
In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information, including submissions made in response to its Preliminary Report and statements made at a public hearing on 1 November 2007.
The VEC’s Final Report on the East Gippsland Shire Council has been forwarded for consideration to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government.
The Final Report is available for inspection at the Council offices, or people can get their own copies from the VEC (tel. 13 18 32) or from the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au
