For release from Monday, 3 September 2007
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) today released its Final Report on electoral representation for the Swan Hill Rural City Council.
The VEC’s recommendation is that Swan Hill Rural City Council consist of seven councillors to be elected from one four-councillor ward and three single-councillor wards. The recommendation is the same as the first preliminary alternative option in the VEC’s Preliminary Report of 19 July 2007.
In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information, including submissions made in response to its Preliminary Report and statements made at a public hearing on 16 August 2007.
The VEC’s Final Report on the Swan Hill Rural City Council has been forwarded for consideration to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government.
The Final Report is available for inspection at the Council offices, or people can get their own copies from the VEC (tel. 13 18 32) or from the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au
