New statewide distribution partners are being sought to enable the public to easily access electoral enrolment forms, according to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
Previously the general public has been able to collect electoral enrolment forms at Coles supermarkets, but that arrangement has now concluded.
By law, every time an elector moves house, they must update their enrolment details within two months or risk a fine. An enrolment form is required to update their details, as the VEC must receive a signature before it can update an elector's details. Also, those applying to go on the electoral roll for the first time need access to enrolment forms.
"We have traditional means of getting the forms into electors' hands such as at electoral offices, Australia Post offices and through our website. The beauty of having an organisation such as a retail chain onboard is the convenience factor for electors when they're out doing their shopping," says Steve Tully, Electoral Commissioner.
Interested organisations should contact the VEC on 03 9299 0728.
The Victorian State election will be held on Saturday, 27 November 2010.
