Ten single-councillor wards to remain for the City of Boroondara
Ten councillors to be elected from ten single-councillor wards is the recommended structure for the City of Boroondara following the completion of the electoral representation review.
In the Final Report released today, the Victorian Electoral Commission recommends the council should retain the current structure of ten councillors elected from ten single-councillor wards. The VEC has recommended a change to the boundary between the Studley and Glenferrie Wards.
The report has been sent to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government. If accepted, the new structure will be in effect for the November local council elections.
“In preparing its Final Report, the VEC considered a range of information including submissions made in response to its Preliminary Report, and statements made at a public hearing on Wednesday, 7 May,” said Mr Steve Tully, Victorian Electoral Commissioner.
“We believe this structure provides the best opportunity for the interests of voters to be fairly and equitably represented on the Council," said Mr Tully.
For a copy of the Final Report visit the VEC’s website www.vec.vic.gov.au or call the VEC on 13 18 32. Copies are also available for inspection at the Council offices.
