Location:Melbourne District is a central metropolitan electorate.
Area:31 square kilometres.
Region:Northern Metropolitan Region
Suburbs:Carlton, Carlton North, East Melbourne, Flemington, Kensington, Newmarket, North Melbourne, Parkville, West Melbourne and parts of Ascot Vale.
Features:Melbourne District includes densely populated residential areas and the city’s business precinct. Features include Royal Park, the Zoological Gardens, the Fitzroy Gardens, Princes Park, the MCG, Parliament House, the Museum of Victoria, the University of Melbourne, the Queen Victoria Market, the Royal Agricultural Society Showgrounds and the Flemington Racecourse.
