Features of the District

Location:Murray Valley District is a rural electorate located north-east of Melbourne.
Area:5,020 square kilometres.
Region:Northern Victoria Region
Towns:Cobram, Katunga, Numurkah, Rutherglen, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga.
Features:Murray Valley takes its name from the Murray River, which was named after Sir George Murray who was Secretary of State for the Colonies in the 1830s. Industries in the area include agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and wine making. Natural features include the Ovens and Murray Rivers.
