North Geelong Secondary College

This school was the major recipient of funds for the 2005-06 period. $25,000 will be devoted to the following strategies to increase student engagement in the democratic process:
  • level 5 and 6 Civics and Citizenship teacher professional development;
  • a level 5 and 6 integrated approach to Civics and Citizenship curriculum delivery;
  • Legal Studies resources and teacher professional development (on Human Rights and Constitution topics);
  • a Civics and Citizenship curriculum audit by Deakin University;
  • a Civics and Citizenship evaluation framework consultancy by ACER;
  • a VCAL student leadership program;
  • participation in the Melbourne University Youth Development Program;
  • a Year 10 "City Week" experience including electoral education; and
  • a student leadership scholarship for a special needs student.
