Melbourne City Council Representation Review

Legislation now provides for electoral representation reviews of the Melbourne City Council. The electoral representation review of Melbourne City Council commenced on Monday, 24 October.

The 2011 review will consider if change is needed to the current electoral structure. The review will consider the appropriate number of the councillors for the municipality and whether the City should be divided into wards.

The review will not consider:

  • the method of election for the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor
  • the external boundaries of the City of Melbourne
  • who is entitled to vote in Melbourne City Council elections
  • whether elections should be held by post or attendance.
