In the lead up to the 2018 State election, the VEC rolled out a free SMS and email reminder service to enrolled Victorians, ‘VoterAlert’. This was in response to research showing that Victorian voters were keen to be contacted with voting reminders.

Over two million Victorians were contacted through this service during the election period. They were notified before the close of rolls, at the commencement of early voting, and on election day, with a link to the VEC’s interactive map showing voting centre locations.

The VEC encourages all eligible Victorians to sign up for these alerts. They will be notified of key dates for electoral events happening in their State District or local council, such as by-elections.

Voters can opt-in to the service via the VEC’s website, at, when checking or updating their enrolment details, or when enrolling for the first time.
