The name of the registered political party Sustainable Australia – Stop overdevelopment. Stop corruption. was today officially changed to Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption.
The party applied to change its name to Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption, with the abbreviation Sustainable Australia Party on Thursday 16 July 2020. As required by section 49 of the Electoral Act 2002 (the Act), the Victorian Electoral Commission advertised the application and invited objections. No objections were received.
Certain names are not acceptable under the Act, including names that are confusingly similar to the name of another registered political party. The name Sustainable Australia Party – Stop Overdevelopment / Corruption is acceptable under the Act, and will be printed next to the party’s endorsed candidates’ names on ballot papers at any election contested by the party under the Electoral Act 2002.
