Have your say: Changes to Victoria’s electoral regulations underway

Wednesday 25 May 2022

For immediate release

Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately is encouraging anyone who wishes to provide comment or suggest changes to Victoria’s electoral regulations to act now - prior to the deadline on Sunday 12 June.

‘This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in contributing to a more inclusive, accessible and modern electoral system,’ Mr Gately said.

Ensuring that the new regulations are accurate, clear, modern and operationally effective is a key focus of the review. The aim of the Electoral Regulations 2022 is to ensure that the electoral process is accessible and provides a good experience for Victorians.

The VEC has provided its submission to the Department of Premier and Cabinet, which is managing the process for the replacement regulations, and encourages electors, political parties and candidates to also have their say.

The VEC has also written to its Electoral Access Advisory Group to alert them to the review.

All submissions must be made in writing before 5 pm on Sunday 12 June 2022 and can be provided anonymously.

Further information on how to submit feedback can be found on the Engage Victoria website.
