Voters in Camberwell and Ashburton have until 5 pm on Monday 4 October to vote in one of the two liquor licensing polls currently underway for Greenhart Wine Bar (Camberwell) and Aikido Hospitality (Ashburton).
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) last week sent ballot papers to 1,758 eligible voters in Camberwell and 1,456 eligible voters in Ashburton who live in the neighbourhoods surrounding the venues at 1226 Toorak Road, Camberwell or 192 High Street, Ashburton.
Residents are asked to vote 'yes' or 'no' to the resolution: 'That a General Licence be granted in the neighbourhood of the premises situated at 1226 Toorak Road, Camberwell' (for Greenhart Wine Bar) or 'That a General Licence be granted in the neighbourhood of the premises situated at 192 High Street, Ashburton' (for Aikido Hospitality).
'With the polls being conducted entirely by post, it's important voters complete and return their ballot material as soon as possible to make sure their vote counts,' Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said.
Voting is compulsory for voters who were on the State roll at 5 pm Thursday 5 August.
