Work at the State election on Saturday 26 November
Friday 18 November 2022
For immediate release
Applications are still open to work on election day on Saturday 26 November.
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is seeking casual staff to help deliver a secure, transparent, and fair election.
Anyone over 18, who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or holds a current work visa, is eligible to apply to work with the VEC in a variety of roles.
'Election casuals receive competitive pay and don’t need any prior experience,' Deputy Electoral Commissioner Dana Fleming said.
'We've had an amazing response so far across the State, with most positions filled. However, there is some staff attrition due to COVID-19 and other factors. As a result, there are some areas across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria where we're looking to fill election day roles, particularly Melbourne's northern suburbs,' Ms Fleming said.
Districts requiring extra staff in metropolitan Melbourne include:
- Broadmeadows District
- Thomastown District
- Pascoe Vale District
- Melbourne District
- Mulgrave District
- Kororoit District
- Kalkallo District
Districts requiring extra staff in regional Victoria include:
- Wendouree District
- Bendigo East District
- Eildon District
- Lowan District
Election day voting centres in these districts can be found on the Voting Centre Locator
Election staff develop skills in administration, customer service, and teamwork and enjoy a unique working experience.
