YMCA Victoria's 2022 Youth Parliament

After 2 pandemic-affected years, YMCA's Youth Parliament was once again face-to-face this year at Parliament House. We sponsored 6 teams in this year’s Parliament. The teams represented our priority groups and included young people experiencing homelessness, people in regional areas, CALD communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people from socio-economic disadvantaged situations and more.

Our fantastic sponsored teams were:

  • CREATE Foundation
  • Mildura Rural City Council
  • Korin Gamadji Institute
  • Moyne Shire Council – Next Gen!
  • Education First Youth Foyer
  • Catholic Regional College Sydenham.

Congratulations to all of the young parliamentarians who worked so hard for over 6 months to plan, research, deliver and debate their ideas on such a broad array of important topics and issues. The event was a wonderful success, and we extend our congratulations to the teams at YMCA Victoria (including the volunteer Youth Taskforce and the Youth Press Gallery), and the Parliament of Victoria for facilitating this flagship event which empowers young Victorians to have their voice heard.

If your school or community group of young people (aged 16-25) is interested in applying to participate in next year’s event, please get in touch with us at education@vec.vic.gov.au and we can offer further information and advice.
