Call for candidates to stand for Lyndhurst District

Nominations are open for prospective candidates considering standing in the Lyndhurst District by-election. The vacancy arose following the resignation of the Hon. Tim Holding, MP on 18 February.

Potential candidates must be on the Victorian electoral roll; however, it is not necessary to live or be enrolled in Lyndhurst District.

Acting Electoral Commissioner Liz Williams said: ‘All prospective candidates should make sure they nominate before the deadline, as late nominations will not be accepted.’

Party endorsed candidates must lodge a correctly completed nomination form and a $350 nomination fee (cash or bank cheque only) with the VEC at Level 11, 530 Collins St, Melbourne by 12 noon on Wednesday, 27 March.

Independent candidates must lodge their nomination form with a $350 nomination fee (cash or bank cheque only) with the Election Manager, Bill Lang, at the election office at Shop 2 & 3, 31–32 Douglas St, Noble Park by 12 noon on Thursday, 28 March. Appointments are encouraged for lodgement of nomination forms with the Election Manager.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the website or can be obtained by contacting the Election Manager, Bill Lang, on (03) 9548 0223.

To save time at the election office, candidates can pre-fill their nomination online at using the VEC’s Candidate Helper. The nomination, however, cannot be finalised until the form is lodged in person with the Election Manager and the fee is paid.

The Election Manager will conduct an information session for independent candidates:

4.00 pm, Tuesday, 12 March
Shop 2 & 3, 31–32 Douglas St
Noble Park.

Nomination forms will be available at the candidate information session.

The Lyndhurst District by-election will be held on Saturday, 27 April.
