Information session for potential independent candidates

An information session for prospective independent candidates for the Victorian State election will be held this Sunday.

The presentation will cover key timelines and procedures relevant to independent candidates and will be followed by a question and answer period.

The information session will be held on:

Level 11, 530 Collins Street, Melbourne (enter via Collins Street entrance).

Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately, AM, said: 'Prospective candidates are encouraged to attend the session to familiarise themselves with the key requirements and responsibilities of nominating for the State election'.

Candidate handbooks for the 2014 State election are available online at or can be obtained at the information session.

Nominations open on Wednesday 5 November. Prospective independent candidates must lodge a correctly completed nomination form with their nomination fee by 12 noon on Friday 14 November. Late nominations cannot be accepted.

Independent candidates are encouraged to use the VEC's online Candidate Helper when nominating. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the VEC website at
