Victorian State election on Saturday 29 November

The Governor of Victoria, his Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, has officially signed and handed over writs directing the State election to be held on Saturday 29 November.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is now prompting voters to ensure their enrolment details are up-to-date before the roll closes at 8.00 pm on Tuesday 11 November.

Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said: ‘It is important that all Victorians take part in November’s State election. I urge anyone who is not on the electoral roll to complete a form by the deadline, as enrolling and voting is compulsory for all eligible citizens’.

Voters can enrol or update their enrolment online at vec.vic.gov.au, or pick up an enrolment form at any Australia Post or Australian Electoral Commission Office.

From tomorrow, candidates can nominate to stand for election to either the Upper or Lower House. Independent candidates have until 12.00 noon on Friday 14 November to submit their nomination in the District or Region for which they are nominating. The deadline for candidates endorsed by a registered political party is 12.00 noon on Thursday 13 November. Nominations will be updated on the VEC website twice daily as they are processed.

For more information about enrolling, voting or standing for elections, voters can visit the VEC’s website at vec.vic.gov.au or call 131 832.
