Election day arrives for Victoria

Victorians are reminded that today, Saturday 29 November, is election day. Everyone on the State electoral roll, as at 8.00 pm on Tuesday 11 November, must vote.

Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said: ‘A large number of voters who could not vote today have already voted in person or by post.

‘Voting in the 2014 State election is compulsory, so we’re urging those who have not voted to get to a voting centre between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm today to cast their vote.’

People who have applied for a postal vote and have not yet returned their completed ballot papers, must ensure these are handed in (with their declaration envelope) at any voting centre or posted to the VEC by 6.00 pm.

Voting centre locations are listed in today’s major Victorian daily newspapers. Details of voting centre locations are also available online at, by calling 131 832, or on the Vote Victoria app — a free app now available from iTunes and Google Play stores.

The Vote Victoria app also provides voters with results as the count progresses during the night. Voters will be able to follow individual districts and see a running total for the State.

Voting in State elections is compulsory for all eligible citizens, with no upper age limit. For further information, visit
