Vote counting arrangements for close seats

The Victorian Electoral Commission is now counting a further 1,000 postal votes in Prahran District. The Shepparton District two candidate preferred count (2CP) has also been rethrown to reflect the contest between Greg Barr (The Nationals) and Suzanna Sheed (Independent).

Around the rest of the State, early vote sorting and reconciliation are well underway, as is the sorting of absent votes cast in voting centres yesterday. Collection and exchange of ballot material cast outside of each district will occur tomorrow and Tuesday 2 December. Further deliveries of returned postal votes to district offices from the central processing centre will also take place tomorrow.

The VEC will focus on Legislative Assembly seats that are close. Specific arrangements are as follows:

  • Shepparton District
    Counting of early votes is scheduled to commence at 9.30 am Monday 1 December, with scrutineer briefing at 9.00 am at 33 Vaughan Street, Shepparton.
  • Prahran District
    Additional to the 1,000 postal votes above, counting of early votes will commence at 9.00 am tomorrow morning at 60 Albert Road, South Melbourne.
  • South Barwon District
    A further postal count will commence at 9.00 am on Monday 1 December at Shop 2, 509 Bellarine Highway, Moolap.
    Counting of early votes will commence at 9.30 am at the same venue.
  • Bentleigh
    Counting of early votes will commence at 10.00 am on Monday 1 December at Virginia Park, 18 North Drive, 236-262 East Boundary Road, Bentleigh East.
  • Frankston
    Counting of early votes and a further postal vote count will commence at 9.00 am on Monday 1 December at 431 Nepean Highway, Frankston.
    A full re-check of ordinary votes cast in voting centres on election day, will commence at the completion of the postal count.
  • Morwell
    Counting of early votes will commence at 9.30 am on Monday 1 December at 23 Hazelwood Road, Morwell.
  • Ripon
    Counting of early votes and a further postal vote count will commence at 9.00 am on Monday 1 December at 13 Sloane Street, Stawell.

Further results will be progressively updated on the VEC website as counting occurs.
