For immediate release

Last votes admitted today

Today was the final day for any votes cast in the 2014 State election to be received for admission to the count. As a result, full preference distributions commenced for a number of districts where no candidate won by an absolute majority (more than 50%) of first-preference votes.

Results for a further six Lower House districts are now finalised, increasing the total of districts declared to 41. All Lower House declarations are expected to be finalised by Wednesday this week.

The aim was to commence a full preference distribution for the district of Prahran at 1.00 pm today. However, a number of votes still to be admitted were considered to be critical in terms of exclusion points for the preference distribution. Accordingly, the Election Manager delayed the preference distribution until 10.00 am tomorrow.

Data entry of Upper House below-the-line votes commenced on Saturday at Etihad Stadium and is expected to be in full swing tomorrow with ballot papers for at least five regions being entered. The rechecks of above the line votes are continuing and updates can be found online.
