Recount for Prahran District in progress

A recount of the Prahran District votes commenced today, after the preference distribution revealed that Sam Hibbins (Greens) was the successful candidate with a margin of 262 votes over Clem Newton-Brown (Liberal). Neil Pharaoh (ALP) had been excluded with a margin of just 41 votes.

After consultation with the Electoral Commissioner, the Election Manager determined that a recount of votes would be conducted to ensure absolute accuracy of the result. The recount is anticipated to conclude late this evening.

Meanwhile, 86 districts have declared a result for the 2014 State election.

For the Upper House, rechecks of above-the-line votes are starting to wind up at the region recheck centres. Below-the-line votes are progressively being transported to the central count centre at Etihad Stadium for data entry.
