Liquor licensing poll for Surrey Hills
Surrey Hills residents will soon receive ballot papers to vote in a new liquor licensing poll.
The poll is the result of a general licence application from Union Road Food & Wine, Unit 3, 139 Union Road, Surrey Hills.
‘Voting is compulsory for State-enrolled voters who live in the neighbourhood surrounding the venue,’ said Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately.
The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) determines the neighbourhood boundaries for each poll.
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) will send ballot packs to eligible residents on Tuesday 29 October. Voters must complete their ballot papers and return them by 5.00 pm Wednesday 20 November. Residents who will be away during this period need to contact the VEC on 131 832 to arrange an early postal vote.
Voting in liquor licensing polls is compulsory, and people who fail to vote without a valid excuse may be fined.
The VEC is conducting the liquor licensing poll on behalf of the VCGLR.
