2026 results data feed
We provide a machine-readable results data feed for use by media, analysts and other approved stakeholders during a state election or other state election events. This is a real-time data feed that is updated continuously during the count period.
The feed provides the same information that is available on the VEC website but is in a format designed for software used by broadcast and digital publication systems.
Please note, we are unable to provide technical support to embed the feed into your applications. We encourage you to use our website to source result information if you do not have technical support in-house.
The XML feed will exactly match the first preference and 2CP count data we publish to the VEC website and will update at the same frequency.
Resources
Our user guide and sample files from the 2022 state election will help you set up your software to render the data feed correctly.
We have made changes to our XMLs for the 2026 state election. These are outlined in the user guide above.
We'll publish sample files for the 2026 state election on this page by mid-October.
For more information about the count period, please see the 2026 state election service plan.

2026 state election key dates
We'll run an election night trial on Wednesday 25 November. This trial is an opportunity for feed users to test their systems before election night.
This trial will use test data, not real election results. The trial won't include our 2-candidate-preferred (2CP) selections.
The set up files for the 2026 state election, and a 'zero' version of each results file, will be available in the feed from Tuesday 10 November. We'll also upload the registered political party affiliation identifier file to the resources section on this page from Tuesday 10 November.
Access request
You or your organisation must agree to our terms of use to access the results data feed and the 2026 election night trial. Once we have received your signed agreement and approved your access request, we'll provide you access to the feed from Wednesday 4 November.
