When to update your enrolment
You must update your enrolment within 21 days if you've changed your:
- residential address (after you've lived there for at least one month)
- postal address
- name.
The fastest way to update your enrolment is online. We work with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to make it easy to update your enrolment for all federal, state and local council elections in one go.
You can also download the AEC enrolment form. Call us on 131 832 if you'd like us to send you an enrolment form in the post.
2026 state election
The deadline to enrol for the 2026 state election is 8 pm on Tuesday 3 November. Make sure you enrol or update your enrolment before this date to vote in this election.

If you don't update your enrolment
If you don't update your enrolment within 21 days of your circumstances changing:
- you may have to vote for your old address
- we may update your enrolment for you
- we might remove your name from the roll
- we may send you a fine.
Direct enrolment updates
Sometimes you might be enrolled or your details updated based on information shared by other government agencies. This is called direct enrolment. The AEC runs direct enrolment programs regularly.
If the AEC plan to update your details through direct enrolment, they'll send you a letter to let you know. They'll send you a second letter to confirm when they've made these changes.
The fastest and easiest way to keep your enrolment up to date is to update it online yourself whenever your circumstances change.
