How to enrol or update your details

Before the next election, make sure your details are correct. Have you moved house? changed your name? Voting for the first time?

You can enrol or update your details quickly and easily online.

If you're already enrolled, check that your name, address and contact details are all correct - and if anything has changed, it's simple to update. It only takes a few minutes.

When to update your enrolment

You must update your enrolment within 21 days if you've changed your:

residential address (after you've lived there for at least one month)
postal address
name.

The fastest way to update your enrolment is online. We work with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to make it easy to update your enrolment for all federal, state and local council elections in one go.

2026 state election

The state election is on Saturday 28 November.

Enrolment closed at 8 pm on Tuesday 3 November.

Early voting opens Wednesday 18 November.

Find voting centres

Missed the enrolment deadline?

You can still vote if you didn’t enrol by the deadline.

Visit any early or election day voting centre to enrol and vote on the spot. Tell one of our voting centre staff you are not enrolled and they can help.

Bring one of the following forms of ID:

driver licence or learner permit
Australian passport
recent electricity bill or council rates notice showing your name and address.

Didn't update your details on time?

If you changed address or name but didn’t update your details before the electoral roll closed, vote using your old address or previous name.

Direct enrolment updates

Sometimes you might be enrolled or your details updated based on information shared by other government agencies. This is called direct enrolment. The AEC runs direct enrolment programs regularly.

If the AEC plan to update your details through direct enrolment, they'll send you a letter to let you know. They'll send you a second letter to confirm when they've made these changes.

The fastest and easiest way to keep your enrolment up to date is to update it online yourself whenever your circumstances change.
