We also work with communities who have been under-represented at the ballot box to ensure every Victorian can have their say.

People living with disabilities

Our Disability education and engagement Plan aims to improve access to enrolment and voting for Victorians living with a disability. This plan has strategies to improve access to the electoral process and the VEC itself. We also hold outreach sessions to educate people about the voting rights of people with a disability.

Multicultural communities

We partner with service providers and community leaders, provide culturally responsive services and promote active citizenship to ensure that people from diverse language and cultural backgrounds understand their democratic rights and responsibilities.

People experiencing homelessness

Being homeless does not make you voteless. We work with community agencies to help people experiencing homelessness to participate in local council and state elections. You can read our Prisoners and without a home action plan for more about how we will work with community to address these issues.

We have long been recognised as the industry leader in the delivery of voter education and electoral inclusion programs for young people.

Gender equality

We have a strong commitment to gender equality for all Victorians. We created our first Gender equality action plan in 2021 to address key areas for improvement for staff at the VEC.
