Application to change the New Democrats’ name and logo

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has received an application to change the name and logo of the New Democrats in accordance with the Electoral Act 2002 (the Act).

Current name of party: New Democrats

Current abbreviation and initials: ND

Current logo:
New Democrats logo

Proposed name: Put Australia First, Save the Environment

Proposed abbreviation: Put Australia First

Proposed logo:

Put Australia First Logo. Solid shape of Australia with a black circle around it.

The application has been signed by the secretary of the party.

Objections to the proposed change must be submitted to the VEC no later than Thursday 2 July 2026. Valid reasons for objecting include a proposed name not being allowed under section 47 of the Act.

Objections can be made to rppregistration@vec.vic.gov.au or posted to the VEC, Level 11, 530 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.

Objections must be signed and include the objector’s address. Details of any objections will be made available to the applicant.
