Electoral Commissioner Sven Bluemmel is reminding voters in Kingston City Council's Melaleuca Ward to check their enrolment ahead of the upcoming by-election.

If you live or pay rates in Melaleuca Ward, make sure you're enrolled by 4 pm on Wednesday 20 May,' Mr Bluemmel said.

'Residents and ratepayers, as well as new citizens and people who have just turned 18, can check their enrolment or complete a new enrolment form online at vec.vic.gov.au'

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) website also allows people who have moved to update their addresses. New or updated enrolments must be received by 4 pm on Wednesday 20 May to count for the upcoming by-election.

'If you are an owner, occupier, company nominee or not an Australian citizen but pay rates for an address in Melaleuca Ward, you may be able to enrol in a special category by applying to Kingston City Council on 1300 653 356,' Mr Bluemmel added.

For more information on enrolment, voters can call 131 832 or vec.vic.gov.au/enrolment, where they can also sign up to the free VoterAlert service to receive important election reminders by SMS and email.
