For more than 20 years I have followed Banyule Council closely. I co-founded the Banyule Ratepayers Action Group Inc. and serve as its Honorary President. I have attended nearly every Ordinary Meeting of Council since 2025, and have addressed Council on its financial results, employee costs and capital works carry-forwards. My priorities are these. Rates and charges held to what ratepayers can afford, and justified line by line. Waste services that work, including weekly rubbish collection. Footpaths, roads, drainage and street trees maintained before money is committed to new projects. Local road safety fixed at the rat runs and intersections residents have been raising for years. Planning that protects neighborhood character and open space. Genuine consultation before decisions are made, not after. Trained initially as an industrial chemist/chemical engineer and studied advanced management. I am a registered company director. As a CEO I have managed large teams and delivered projects on budget in Australia and overseas. No party endorses, funds or directs me. In the Council Chamber I answer to Beale Ward residents and nobody else. I read the papers before the vote, I ask the hard questions in public, and I report back honestly — not only at election time.

I’m Fleur and I’m running with the Victorian Socialists in this Banyule Council by-election. Our community is hurting more and more, and mainstream politics is only making things worse. Decades of privatisation and underfunding have led to crisis levels of homelessness and poverty. The cost of fuel, groceries, rent and bills goes up month by month, and our wages buy less and less. We need socialist councillors who will focus on what matters most: housing, public infrastructure and cost-of-living pressures. Local government can’t fix all these problems, but it could be doing a lot more. I’ve lived in Banyule nearly all my life. My kids and I all attended local schools. I’ve seen first-hand Banyule Council’s track record of underfunding and privatisation. Last year, I led a strong campaign to prevent Banyule Council closing our local Olympic Leisure Centre swimming pool. Throughout Banyule, large property developers and the Big Build continually get away with trashing our local environment. I’m running in this election because I think our community needs a strong anti-racist and anti-capitalist voice on Council. I’ve called Banyule home for 38 years, and raising my family here has given me a deep love for our community and a strong sense of what makes it special. As an accounting professional and small business owner, I understand the pressures facing local families and businesses. For more than 20 years, I’ve volunteered with local schools, sporting clubs and community groups, including Lower Plenty Primary School and Diamond Valley United Soccer Club. I’m standing as an Independent because Council should be about people, not party politics. We deserve a Council that listens, spends responsibly and gets the basics right. I’ll work to keep our roads, footpaths, parks and playgrounds safe and well maintained, support responsible planning and sustainable growth, protect our open spaces and environment, and back the local families, seniors, young people, businesses and community groups that make Banyule such a wonderful place to live. Most importantly, I’ll be approachable, practical and willing to listen. I’ll ask questions, work with others and make sure we have a strong voice in decisions that affect our everyday life. I am seeking your vote as your local, independent candidate. Having lived in Briar Hill for over 24 years, I know what a fantastic area it is to raise a family. I want to ensure every resident and family can have the same experience mine has had, and locals continue to enjoy this area as they grow older. I’ll work to ensure Beale Ward gets its fair share of investment. I am committed to the environment and will support suitable, well-designed development that provides more housing without compromising our trees and gardens. I support local action on climate change, support for local businesses, sporting and community groups. I believe strongly in integrity and transparent decision making. I know the value of community through serving on the Briar Hill Preschool committee, Sherbourne Primary and Montmorency Secondary School Councils and supporting sporting clubs my children have been involved with. I understand the complexities of Council having previously worked for Banyule as a strategic planner. I am well qualified to make decisions on financial and planning matters with qualifications in Economics, Urban Planning and Environment. Hi, I’m Logan Farrell. I’ve lived in the Greensborough area my whole life and my family have lived here for over half a century, I’m a long time local who is proud to call this community home. I have worked with trades and study at university, so I understand the pressures facing working people, young people and families trying to build a future here. For years, I’ve attended Banyule Council meetings and spoken up for residents, pushing councillors to put our community first. But there is only so much you can do from the public gallery, which is why I’m running. I want council to listen before decisions are made, keep rates fair, support independent businesses and bring a green oriented view that protects the parks, trees and neighbourhood character across Beale. My name is Lauren Sandars, and I’m asking for your support in the Beale Ward by-election. I grew up in Beale Ward, attending Wahroonga Preschool and Holy Trinity Primary School, and today I’m proud to be raising my own family here in Banyule. As a mum of two, I understand the pressures facing local families, from the rising cost of living to making sure our children have the best possible start in life. I want to be a strong, practical voice for Beale Ward on Banyule Council, ensuring our community gets its fair share of Council’s budget and investment. My priorities are clear: supporting our kindergartens, local sporting clubs & community groups, improving community safety, protecting our environment and open spaces, and delivering the basics properly — safe roads and footpaths, reliable waste services, and clean, well-maintained parks. As a physiotherapist, I advocate for my patients every day, listening to their concerns and working to find practical solutions.
