Free Palestine registered as a political party

Free Palestine is now registered as a political party in Victoria.
The party applied for registration on 2 May 2026. As required by section 49 of the Electoral Act 2002, the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) advertised the application and invited objections.
To be registered, a party must meet legislative requirements, including having at least 500 members on the electoral roll. The VEC confirmed this by writing to the members whose names were provided by Free Palestine.
As a registered political party, Free Palestine:
- will have the party's name printed on state election ballot papers next to the names of the party's endorsed candidates
- can nominate all its candidates and register its how-to-vote card centrally with the VEC, rather than individually with election managers
- may be eligible for public funding
- is entitled to access enrolment information (which it can use for permitted purposes).
