Free TAFE Free Uni refused registration as a political party

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has refused an application by Free TAFE Free Uni to register as a political party in Victoria.

The VEC was required to refuse the application as Free TAFE Free Uni failed to demonstrate that it is an eligible political party.

To be registered, a party must meet legislative requirements, including having at least 500 members on the electoral roll. The VEC was unable to verify that the party had 500 eligible members.

In accordance with the Electoral Act 2002 (Vic), Free TAFE Free Uni is not eligible to re-apply to be registered as a political party for a period of 6 months.
