Unfortunately the nature of a postal vote means that we miss out on a democracy sausage, but I will be campaigning for the next election to have the envelope taste like gravy when you lick it to seal in your vote. On the political spectrum, I’ve been described as a Militant Centrist. I was once on a date with a girl who told me that she could determine someone’s personality based on their political leaning. Proved her wrong though, I haven’t got one. In order to encourage civic pride in our town's great history, I propose to construct a giant Chiko Roll across the Ravenswood interchange on the Calder Freeway. For added convenience, every night will be bin night. The tradeoff is that there will now be 7 different coloured bin lids, one for each day of the week. If you’re wondering whether local council elections are important, just remember: the mayor in Jaws is still the same mayor in Jaws 2. I am your independent candidate for Lockwood Ward by-elections. I am a passionate advocate for the needs of the Lockwood Ward residents, and my commitment is selfless. My successful advocacy includes a recent petition for Public Transport to Marong and a community-led survey for poor mobile network issues across Maiden Gully. In addition to Roads, Rates and Rubbish, I will prioritise community engagement for better planning decisions and easing cost-of-living challenges. I will continue to work tirelessly to improve our public spaces, footpaths, bike paths and public transport. I am focused on strengthening our local businesses. I will advocate for more events and activities across Lockwood Ward and City of Greater Bendigo. I am an active volunteer across several local organisations, including Maiden Gully Progress Association, Bendigo Cricket Club, United Cricket Club, Marong Cricket Club, Eaglehawk Community House and AFL Bendigo Umpires Association. Also, as the current President of Y Service Club Bendigo, I played an active role in supporting the emergency response during the 2026 Harcourt bushfires. Lockwood Ward — Community First I am standing for Lockwood Ward because I believe local government must remain focused on the people, communities and businesses it exists to serve. My approach is simple: listen, be accessible, ask difficult questions and put community first. As a former Australian Army Major and community and veterans’ advocate, I understand service, accountability and the importance of achieving practical results. My work has involved supporting veterans and families, addressing homelessness and disadvantage, developing community projects and helping people navigate government systems when they need assistance. Lockwood Ward includes growing communities and rural areas whose residents deserve their fair share of Council attention, infrastructure and services. I will advocate for responsible spending, better roads and infrastructure, sensible planning, support for volunteers, local businesses and community organisations, and decisions that respect residents and ratepayers. I am prepared to speak up when something does not make sense, while working constructively with others to find practical solutions. This campaign is about community, accountability and service. If elected, I will work hard, remain accessible and ensure Lockwood Ward residents have a strong, independent voice at Council.

Having spent my entire life in Lockwood Ward, I grew up locally, attending Kangaroo Flat Primary School and Technical School, and built my working life and businesses here. My experience has been varied and practical. I trained as a train driver, became a chef and local restaurateur, worked as an award-winning youth worker and volunteer, worked in earthmoving and on local roads, and owned and operated a water transport business supplying domestic and stock water I am the proud parent of two mature, successful children and have a strong understanding of the people, businesses and communities that make this area what it is. Having lived here my whole life, I see first hand the issues affecting our community. I want greater attention given to deteriorating roads, rubbish dumping in our forests and along roadsides, and the need for stronger implementation of our local plans. I also want to see improvements in telecommunications and public transport, as well as greater value from every dollar the council spends. Most importantly, I want to be a strong, independent and approachable voice for the people of Lockwood Ward - someone who listens, understands local issues and works hard to achieve practical results for our community.

Hi, I’m Emily Edgar, I am a local, proud to call Marong home. I live here with my family, my two children and I have a strong connection to the Lockwood Ward. I understand the challenges and opportunities facing our communities. As Vice President of the Marong Community Action Group and a volunteer with the Marong Football Club, I am actively involved in supporting community and listening to the people who call it home. I know how tough the cost of living is for families, and I will advocate for council rates to be spent wisely, responsibly and where they are most needed. I will ask the hard questions, speak up when things aren’t right and fight to ensure Lockwood Ward receives its fair share of investment. We need better footpaths, safer roads, improved drainage, adequate parking and better lighting. These are basic infrastructure needs that make a real difference to everyday life. I will work closely with our many community groups and advocate fiercely for you. I’m an Aussie who rolls up her sleeves, gets involved and supports her community. I’m ready to do the same for Lockwood Ward.

I’m Robert Holian, a GP, parent, director of a local community health service and proud Long Gully local. Supporting people with their health means I know first-hand the struggles facing people in our area, particularly the most vulnerable. We urgently need safe housing and roads, a healthy environment, and to bring down bills. I am running for Lockwood Ward to bring leadership with honesty and integrity, and to get the basics right in our area. My priorities are key to a healthy community: (1) better footpath coverage and street lighting so everyone, regardless of mobility, can safely connect with the world around them; (2) safe streets and parking near our schools and childcare (3) increased suburban tree canopy to reduce power bills and protect us from extreme heat; and (4) a transparent council that leaves no one behind. I believe residents deserve a councillor who is easy to contact, so things can be sorted out, person to person – someone who speaks plainly and carefully listens to you, not vested interests.
