Voting is compulsory. You must vote at the Victorian State election if you are enrolled by 8.00 pm on Tuesday 6 November 2018. If you do not vote, you may be fined.
You must enrol and vote for your main living address if you are:
- an Australian citizen or qualified British subject*
- 18 years or older
- have lived at your current address in Victoria for at least one month.
*Qualified British subjects for the electoral roll in Victoria are those who were on an Australian electoral roll between 26 October 1983 and 26 January 1984.
Are there age limits for voting?
You must be at least 18 years old to vote in Australia.
If you are 17 years old, you can provisionally enrol to vote. You will be automatically enrolled when you turn 18, and you will be able to vote if you will be 18 on 24 November 2018.
There is no upper age limit to voting in Victoria.
