You must update your enrolment within 21 days if you have changed your:

  • residential address and have lived there for a month
  • postal address if this is different to your residential address
  • name.

It's quick and easy to update your electoral enrolment. The AEC has translated information in many languages to help you with this process. They can also send you a paper enrolment form to post back to them if you prefer.

Enrol for the first time

Voting means you get to have a say about who represents you. It's your chance to make your voice and opinions heard. Voting in Australia is secret, and who you vote for is completely up to you.

You won’t be fined for not voting in past elections if you enrol to vote now.

It's quick and easy to join the electoral roll if you haven't enrolled before. You can enrol online with the AEC or ask them to send you a paper form. They also have translated information if you need help.
