Early voting opens this week for Nepean District by-election

Early voting opens this Wednesday 22 April for the Nepean District by-election, with voters asked to have their say on who will represent them in the Victorian Parliament.

The early voting centres are located at:

  • Rosebud Sea Scouts Hall, Rosebud Foreshore, Nepean Highway (opposite Fourth Avenue), Rosebud (assisted wheelchair access)
  • Dromana Hub Shopping Centre, Shop 1/251 Point Nepean Road, Dromana (independent wheelchair access)
  • Blairgowrie Community Hall, 12 William Road, Blairgowrie (independent wheelchair access).

Early voting centres will open:

  • 9 am to 8 pm weekdays
  • 1 pm to 8 pm on Anzac Day, Saturday 25 April
  • 9 am to 6 pm Friday 1 May

Election day voting centres will be open from 8 am to 6 pm on election day, Saturday 2 May.

Postal vote applications are open until 6 pm on Wednesday 29 April. Voters who have applied for a postal vote must have their completed ballot papers in the mail or hand-delivered to a Nepean voting centre before 6 pm on election day, Saturday 2 May. Voters can apply for a postal vote on the VEC website at vec.vic.gov.au/voting/current-elections/nepean-by-election/postal-voting 

Voters who are blind, have low vision or have a physical disability and need help to cast their vote, can register to vote by telephone. Telephone-assisted voting is open Wednesday 22 April and closes at 6 pm on Saturday 2 May. To register, call 13 57 23. Voting by telephone is secret and secure.

A low-sensory mobile voting centre will be operating to support people who are neurodiverse and their support people on Tuesday 21 April. This will be open from 10am to 4pm at Dromana Community Hall: 2A Verdon Street, access via Hodgkinson Street, Dromana (Independent wheelchair access).

Voting is compulsory for all electors who were on the roll for Nepean District at the close of roll at 8 pm on Friday 20 March.
