Voting closes soon for Darebin and Whittlesea postal by-elections

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is reminding voters in North West Ward in Darebin City Council and Lalor Ward in Whittlesea City Council that they have until 6 pm Friday 1 August to vote in the postal by-elections.
'You need to post your completed ballot pack before 6 pm on Friday 1 August, noting local clearance times may vary,' Electoral Commissioner Sven Bluemmel said.
Voters can also drop off their ballot pack at their council's election office before 6 pm Friday 1 August. The election office for each council is located at:
- Darebin City Council, North West Ward – Preston City Hall, 284 Gower Street, Preston
- Whittlesea City Council, Lalor Ward – Unit 12, 63 Ricky Way, Epping
Any voter who still hasn't received their ballot pack should call the VEC immediately on 131 832.
The election offices will be open for extended hours on Thursday 31 July until 8 pm and on Friday 1 August until 6 pm.
Voting is compulsory for voters who were on the state and council roll for these by-elections at 4 pm Wednesday 21 May 2025. Voters who don’t vote may be fined.
